New resident: Folkert

Folkert Slump, 25, is not someone who sits still. As a full-time model, he travels a lot, works on his own clothing brand and entertains thousands of followers with creative content on social media. Yet he thought it was time for a place of his own in Amsterdam, and he found it in The Pulse. Why he is so excited about his new home? Folkert tells it himself!

What is your current living situation?
‘I lived with two friends in de Pijp, a vibrant place where I have always had a great time. Yet because of my work, I am on the road a lot and felt it was time for a place of my own.’

How did you end up at The Pulse?
‘I really wanted to continue living in Amsterdam, but in a property for myself. Through a friend, I heard about The Pulse and when I visited the website, I was immediately enthusiastic. Of course I swap the hustle and bustle of the Pijp, but I see that the Zuidas is becoming more and more lively. That seemed perfect to me.’

How did the registration process go?
‘Actually very simple. Through the website, I could indicate my preferences and then I was super well helped to find a property that suited me. As a ZZP’er it is sometimes a bit more complicated to calculate everything financially, but the rental team did a great job of guiding me through that.’

Why did you choose The Pulse?
‘The location is ideal: right in the city centre, plenty of liveliness and incredibly easy to reach. I often have to be at Schiphol Airport for my work. Amsterdam Zuid Station is literally around the corner and within a few minutes you are at the airport. That’s really a godsend for me.’

‘Moreover, I will be living on the 16th floor and will soon have a phenomenal view of Amsterdam and the surrounding area. That really seems like something I’ll never get used to. Looking out of the window every time and seeing the city at your feet – that’s great, isn’t it?’

What do you already know about the building and its facilities?
“I know that The Pulse is more than just a place to live. There will also be offices, a cinema with cozy restaurants, and a supermarket. Everything I need is within reach, both inside and outside the building. Stopping by the gym nearby after a morning coffee? Absolutely perfect.”

Are there any specific places in the area you are curious about?
‘Yes, I am very curious about life at the Zuidas. It’s increasingly becoming a place to really live. Just getting a smoothie at Joe & Juice, going for a run through the Beatrixpark or the Amsterdamse Bos – that kind of thing fits my lifestyle perfectly.

I have now cycled past The Pulse at least ten times to see how the construction is progressing. It’s going really fast and I can’t wait to soon move into my home and become part of this new, vibrant place on the Zuidas!’
